This site is fantastic. A fellow genealogist gave me the link to this site as her ancestors are from this area. My ancestors are from the Kinsarvik, Ullensvang area. I wish there was a site like this for that region as it would make tracking my family ancestry a lot easier. Thank you for providing this for fellow researchers like me! I am so appreciative of the information you are sharing. My ancestors were from the Varne, Munkejord, and Saevland farms. My great grandfather Vermund Rasmussen, b. 1853, and his wife, Ragnhild Olsdatter, b. 1851, and their first 5 children immigrated to the US in abt. 1884. They first settled in Iowa and had two more children, including my grandfather Arthur Warne. The family surname was changed to Warne we believe to be from the Varne farm name. The family then permanently settled in South Dakota. I would be happy to share information about our family here in the US. I am hopeful that someday I will be able to visit Karmoy.
